Classic Chicago Bathroom Remodel

The owner of this vintage condo in Chicago hired us to help him design and manage the construction of a new guest bathroom that was simple, elegant, and would coordinate with the rest of his home.

How We Helped

For this interior design project, we developed a floor plan, selected all of the fixtures (e.g. sink, toilet, shower head) and tile finishes. We also picked paint and selected lighting, artwork, and accessories.

On the construction side, we helped the home owner choose the best contractor for the job and assisted with the management of the construction project.

Vintage Condo, Vintage Bathroom

We wanted to create a bathroom that felt at home with the rest of this vintage condo in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. We started with selecting a white hexagonal marble tile for the floor that we fell in love with and wanted to use it as the base of the bathroom design.

Beautiful, White, Ceramic Sink

Continuing with the vintage theme, we selected a white, ceramic free-standing sink and vanity. This vanity not only looks great, but it helps keep this smaller space feeling more “open”.

White Subway Tile

We are huge fans of the white subway tile. Not only does it complete the vintage bathroom design, it looks crisp, is easy to clean and very affordable to purchase and install.

The Details Matter

We love selecting bathroom materials that have a lot of fine details and finishes. This adjustable mirror is offset from the wall with these beautiful chrome standoffs. Not only does it allow the mirror to be adjusted, it add a sense of depth and refinement to the space.

White Wainscoting (the Original Ship Lap)

White painted Shiplap (the stuff featured in every episode of Fixer Upper) looks beautiful in homes, however, we decided to go with the “original”...white wainscoting. When paired with a crisp 2.5” wood ledge, it adds a nice contrast to the darker paint color that covers the top half of the walls. To add a pop of color, we went with an unconventional patterned shower curtain in blue and violet.
