Wicker Park Family Room Wet Bar

By mixing a rustic cabinet with modern hardware and a zero-radius sink, we were able to create a beautiful wet bar for this couples entertaining needs.
When Design Inside was hired by this wonderful couple in the Wicker Park area to design their wet bar for their family room, we knew that we would have to come up with something fresh and inviting that had a modern edge to it, yet still fit the aesthetic of their transitional Chicago home. Whenever designing a kitchen or a bar, it’s all about picking the proper style door and mating it with a beautiful countertop that doesn’t look like every other kitchen or bar in Chicago. To spice things up a bit, we decided to go with a rustic concord door in Alder with a fireside finish from Mid Continent Cabinetry which had a crisp clean line yet the wood had a slight distressed look to it. Combined with large modern pulls the cabinetry really stands out. For the countertops we knew that we didn’t want to go with the standard polished granite, instead we found a beautiful Blue Lagos limestone in a honed finish and paired it with a light polished travertine backsplash. To tie it all together we used a stainless steel under mount zero-radius sink and Danze faucet and had under cabinet halogen lights mounted into the cabinetry to provide the right amount of dramatic lighting. The couple is really happy with the end result and is excited about using the bar for their first wine party and we at Design Inside are excited about helping them convert a empty corner in their basement family room into a beautiful focal point.
