What do you want the project to be?

Are you looking to start a new home improvement project?  From paint selection in a single room to a full gut rehab, all types of projects need well defined goals, otherwise you may end up with a new home that you do not enjoy.

Asking yourself these following questions will help to figure out what your looking for in the project, if your not completely sure.

  2. What type of amenities are you interested in?  Hardwood Floors, Granite Countertops, Heated Bathroom Floors?  The list is endless.
  3. What is your time line for completion of the project?
  4. What is your budget for design? Materials? Construction labor?
  5. What do you expect from this project?
  6. How are the decisions made and who makes them? How will your family be involved in the decisions?
  7. What construction experience do you have?  Can you paint?  Can you hang pictures?  Can you build walls?
  8. What home spaces have you seen that were a success?  Why were they successful?
  9. What home spaces have you seen that were not as successful?  Why were they not successful?
  10. What is the one single must-have item that your new home must have?
