Transitional Townhouse Living Room

The young family wished to update their cold, uninviting living room a room featuring a warm, yet modern feel, all while incorporating Indian textiles in a fresh, exciting way. The rug was a family heirloom that served as a point for inspiration. We selected a warm, earthy palette from Pittsburgh Paints and incorporated a few hues distinct to Benjamin Moore. Placing the four colors in the clients loft-type town home reinvigorated the large space, imparting a sense of dynamism and functional zoning. A large table was found on clearance at Crate & Barrel. The scale and simplicity of the piece unified the Indian inspiration with the Modern verve, while the rhythm of the Indian textiles on the wall is a subtle reference to the Rothko painting at the upper level. All-in-all, the space has transformed from an unused area to one of pride and entertaining.
