This couple lived in a beautiful high-rise condo in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago and they absolutely loved their home, but disliked their master bedroom. The space was outdated, had minimal storage and was in need of an overhaul.
When Design Inside was brought on board for this master bedroom project in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, we spoke with the client and focused on creating a space that had a sophisticated hotel feel while adding storage to the space. Some of the highlights of the design include:
- New soffits over the bed with recessed can lights which help create an intimate space over the bed.
- An Upholstered headboard was added with touch-latch doors that hide an additional wall of storage.
- Built-in nightstands were added that are 24” deep, but only have 12” exposed; offering plenty of drawer storage without taking up a large amount of floor space.
- A custom platform bed was created with an inset base that gives the bed a solid presence in the room without feeling overbearing.
- A wardrobe was created along the entire wall of the bedroom offering plenty of closet and drawer storage for the homeowners clothing and personal items.
- Back-painted glass was added to a few of the full-height doors to add contrast to the space.
- Commercial grade roller shades were added to allow the home owner to completely black out the window, or fully open it to showcase the beautiful views of the Chicago skyline.
